She is a former editor in chief of FIYAH Literary Magazine of Black Speculative Fiction, for which she won a World Fantasy Award. Ireland has been shortlisted for numerous state and industry awards including the Andre Norton Award, the Bram Stoker Award in young adult fiction, and the Lodestar Award for Young Adult fiction. She holds a BA in History from Armstrong Atlantic State University (now Georgia Southern) and an MFA in Creative Writing from Hamline University.
Her forthcoming book, A Test of Courage, which is part of the high profile Star Wars High Republic publishing initiative, will be available in September of 2020.
